Lighting upgrades in occupied buildings

Most lighting upgrades fail on logistics rather than technology. The specification is straightforward; delivering it around occupation is where planning matters.

Start with a survey that records existing fittings, circuits, emergency provision and switching. That determines whether luminaires can be swapped on existing circuits or whether wiring and controls need revising.

Controls make the difference to consumption. Presence detection, daylight dimming and zoning usually deliver more than the luminaire change alone.

Commissioning is part of the job. Scenes, absence timeouts and emergency testing regimes should be handed over documented, not left at default settings.
